Lake Eyasi

A remote soda lake at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, on the edge of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Lake Eyasi is home to the Hadzabe, one of the last hunter-gatherer tribes in Africa, and the Datoga, a pastoralist and blacksmith tribe. The main attraction here is not the lake itself but these two indigenous tribes: joining the Hadzabe on an early-morning hunt, or visiting a Datoga homestead to see their traditional blacksmithing and jewelry-making.
